About the Program
CIEE's Advanced Liberal Arts program
allows students with an advanced level of Spanish to directly matriculate with local, degree-seeking students at two public Spanish universities: the Universidad de Sevilla
and/or the Universidad Pablo de Olavide
. Students may also take a course at the CIEE study center with other visiting U.S. based students.
CIEE's Advanced Liberal Arts program in Seville is located in the capital of Andalucia, Spain's southernmost province. Seville is home to 700,000 residents, over 50,000 of whom are students at the Universidad de Sevilla and the Universidad Pablo de Olavide.
- Full year: early September to mid-June
- Spring: mid-January to mid-June
Fields of Study
Language of instruction is Spanish.
Fields of study include: Anthropology, Arabic, Art/Art History, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Classics, Communications, Computer Science, Economics, Environmental Studies, Film, French, German, Government/Political Science, History, International Studies, Italian, Latin American Studies, Linguistics, Literature, Mathematics, Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology, Spanish
You are required to enroll in a full courseload and complete all exams and assignments associated with the course regardless of the credit you wish to receive on the program. Withdrawal from a course or failure to take/complete a final will be regarded as an unauthorized reduction in courseload and a violation of the academic policy.
A full courseload for this program is: a mandatory pre-session course plus five regular semester courses (one of which may be a CIEE course)
The minimum passing grade for this program is: 5 (aprobado) on the Spanish grading scale or C on the U.S. grading scale
You are required to live in program housing.
You have two housing options:
- Homestay (includes three meals a day)
- Residence Hall
